You already know GenAI is everywhere—from email to grant writing to internal docs. But most smaller nonprofits don’t have the time, budget, or staff to figure out how to lead through this moment well.

That’s why we built this lab: a 6-month, guided experience where you’ll walk away with a real, values-aligned GenAI policy—without spending $10K or more.

✅ Working Knowledge of Gen AI

The Lab Experience

Clear Guidance

We start with the basics. Before drafting policy, we’ll build a shared foundation—what GenAI is, how it works, where it’s already showing up in your tools, and what’s changing. Then, over six months, we walk you step-by-step through building a responsible, mission-aligned GenAI policy—designed for the realities of smaller teams. The Lab includes five total sessions: one 90-minute virtual group launch meeting, followed by a mix of private organizational consults (x2) and group meetings (x2).

Peer Learning

You’ll join a small group of nonprofit leaders navigating similar questions. You’ll hear what’s working, what’s not, and what’s ahead.

Custom Policy (Not a Template)

You won’t just get a generic sample. We help you create an actionable, tailored policy your board can adopt and your team can use.

Staff Use Comes Out of the Shadows

Your staff are already using AI tools. This process builds permission, co-learning, and shared responsibility—not fear or restriction.

Board Engagement Without Overwhelm

We equip you to bring your board along without a 60-slide deck. You’ll get tools to help them understand, support, and approve what matters.

No Policy Prison

We don’t believe in rigid, one-size-fits-all rules. Our goal isn’t to lock your team down—it’s to set you up and set you free. This policy gives your team the clarity and permission they need to use GenAI responsibly, with flexibility built in as the technology evolves.

FAQ's

If your organization is larger, we’d love to work with you—but this group experience likely won’t meet your needs. Reach out directly to explore our 1:1 offerings.

Where does your team land?

This grid maps where nonprofit leaders and their teams say they are in their GenAI journey. Each dot represents a real response—capturing how individuals, teams, orgs, and boards are approaching (or avoiding) policy and learning.

We’ve got “Ghost Mode” users working quietly and alone… “Policy Prison” orgs that locked things down too early… and “Sandbox Rebellion” teams experimenting with no shared direction.

Only a handful have made it to “Aligned Innovation”—the sweet spot of collaborative, clear, and mission-aligned GenAI use.

That’s exactly what the GenAI Policy Lab is designed to help you build. If your org is still finding its way, this lab gives you the guidance, clarity, and peer support to move forward with confidence.
